Finished French and table shots

Instead of just posting another unit post, I decided to post some table shots with some more figs.
Problem is that I only have 2 good looking finished units that go togeather, the french new French line battalion and Russians, I have a few other good looking units, but they are either not finished or wrong period(half finished prussian battalion and cav regiment, and a finished prussian battalion but it's post 1813 landwehr)

So to spice things up I put on bad looking units, but in the distance were their suckyness can't be seen that clearly, Up close the good looking, than somewhat behind the repainted french unit(thats aslo the wrong period) then in the background the old crapy stuff.
Anyway to the pics:

Russian/prussian force moving against the french

New french unit getting ready to recive a bayonetcharge by the russians

Picture showing the french suport lines behind

More open pic of the action

Spot the landwehr!

Freshly painted French gun, on the left, expect more pics of it when I finish the base.

Picture from the roof of a russian stable, a few 12pdr guns on the ridge fra back

Then a two closeups of the new French unit, as you can see not as good as the russians, but still worthy of most peoples table, atleast I hope so,

Thanks for stopping buy, I expect a new shippment from eureka late this or mid next week, which should give me two legere units, one russian musketeer unit, and finish the half finished french line battalion, half finished prussian musketeer unit, and half finished prussian kuriassir unit.

Adler ACW

Ok, I've been wanting to do 6mm ACW ever since I started with the whole 6mm thing
First I was thinking of useing Irreuglar, but learned they came 6 to 30mm and not 6 to 20mm as their napoleoinc range.
So I now had an excuse to try out adler.

So far I've painted 170(only 140 on the pics)
130 Rebs 40 Union, I've decided to not paint the Fedrals until I get a better sky blue, for the trousers, as the paint I have is to glowy.

One 400 man(40 fig) Union regiment gets ready to give a volley at 1000(100) Rebs

Closeup of the rebs

More closeups

This is 3 regiments worth of rebs, I only need to finish baseing the last and the GB Anderson brigade will be done

The Union regiment
As it turnes out I can get 10 adler on a 20mm frontage in 2 lines.
So it kinda becomes 1:10 scale.
They are made for Couldn't hit an elephant, but can probebly work fine for guns at gettysburg

Unit presentation AWI

3rd Continental Dragoons
This is a combined unit, the real 3rd had only 84 men at GCH
So I added the two milita dragoons into it to, this isn't that unhistoric as I think the milita dragoons actualy fought with the 3rd. I painted them all as the 3rd for simplisity.
Paint to paint with white primer,

Total 35 figs or ca. 150 troopers

British Leigon Dragoons
Took me all yesterday to paint the 50 figs, primed black.
I even painted the black straps on the dark green jacket, even if there realy wasn't that much point in it.

They turned out better then the 3rd dragoons, simply becasue drak green is easier ot get good then all white.

Regiment of von bose

Ok, didn't look like alot of people payed any attention to my 54mm stuff.
So here is a freshly painted von bose regiment for my AWI project.

While I was painting my western figs I got the foundry painting guide.
So I decided to try and paint these guys after the 3 color method.
It ended up with a mix of the two color and three color method.

They turned out ok, the faces are still very simple, but the straps are nice

I still havn't found just the right mix of gray to white.

Tarleton Legion Cavalry

Ok, here they are fresh of the asembly line, the glue not even dry on the last two bases.
I did this unit with out any command figs, just to try it out, partly because 9 figs with 2 command figs looks a little silly to me, and partly as I said just to try out the look.
9 figs does give you 180 troopers the biggest single cavalry unit in the OOB.
The american has two units of only 4 figs each.
I personaly like the look with out the command figs.

Anyway some pics

3rd Virginia Militia

My second unit presentation, the 3rd virginia, I did them mabye a little to colorfull, I even have one guy in red, white and blue(he was realy patreotic) But I had done 3 two milita units in kinda drap hunting shirts, so these guys are a bit more festive. A mix of continental uniform, shirt sleves and hunting shirts. The officer, drummer and standard barer have uniforms but died in browns, and not the continental blue.
Thats It for new, in the next few days I'll post Tarleton's Legion cavalry.

Unit presentation and upgraded bases

Ok, my first unit presentation, I decided to do this as I'm fearly happy with these, my best AWI work so far, but still nothing like what you see on other blogs.
But still here it is.

This is the first Foot Guards as they were at Guilford Courthouse

I kinda regert buying so many marching figs, I think charging and fireing look better.
This was my last britsh regiment, so I just did it in marching posision, so now I have two British in marching, one i fireing line and one chargine.
I also had ALOT of US troopers in marching position, but I thought it would look silly just having so many in the position so I sold them, and now buy new in friering and charging position.

As you might see if your like the only one that acutaly reads this blog is that I've uped the quality and work behind my bases, my theory is that as my figs are very avarge looking, putting some more work on the bases can only be good.
Here you can see the old and new bases.
The old had a little work in them, glue sand, paint sand earth brown, glue some grass on.
Looks ok, better then some I've seen.
On the new it's slightly more work, glue sand, paint sand mid gray, dry brush white, dry brush brown, glue gass, glue stone.
Takes just a few minutes more, but i think it looks tones better.
Next unit up is 3rd virgina militia, that I will do REALY militia style, it will have a mix of continental uniforms, hunting shirts and soldiers in shirt sleves. Just to give it that realy half-assed feel of militia. That came and went during the southern campaign.
