Perry Samurai

 So since the WGF foot samurai are apperantly sucky I decided to use perry metals for foot samurai.

So here cames a short comparisment between perry metal and WGF plastic.

Most people would say the perrys are face superiour, but I have to say, it's not 100%

 The plastics actualy got better detail on some stuff. like the lace on the plates, much easier to pick out and paint on the plastics, on the metal I kinda felt like I was blind. The back banners in the plastics are cooler, more folds look more realistic.

On the other hand, the armor is much cooler on the perry figures, and the poses are much cooler to.

 I did them all in uniqe armor and colors.

For some reason they don't look that good up close. the faces suck I just couldn't get them right.

Even more samurai

 So did two more samurai, one is in very drark green armor, and the other a mix of brick red and black.

With 4 bases, this would be about 300 strong unit.

 I still think the horses are kinda odd, hard to shade and highlight. kinda hard picking out the details.

More Samurai

 Finished 4 more samurai, 3 in black and 1 in brown armor.

WGF Ashigaru and Samurai

So this is a mixed bag, I got the ashigaru first, and man are those in lots of pieces. I get it gives lots of options, but it also makes them complex to put togeather. and quite frankly my first attempt wasn't that good, lots of spaces between the parts ect. hell I even glued the damn swords wrong side up, and didn't notice it until I was gonna paint them.

But they paint up ok, samurai/ashigaru are never easy to paint.

 The mounted samurai on the other hand were much better, so much easier to glue togeather. I don't like the horses tho, the got some odd shapes and the heads are odd. I've decided not to do the cav in uniform armor, this is not the red devils, most will be black with some red guys in there, this apears to be the two most common armor colors.

 These are all takeda since it's the easiet banner to paint free hand.

Finished Ronin and Sanada WIP

So I finished my ronin, a nice looking unit, nothing that good about it, but ok.

This would be about 600 ronin,

I like this red dude,

I'm now also almost done with my Takeda Shingen force, I only need to finish the ashigaru unit and General/bodyguard, this will be the forces under the direct command of Shingen, it will be about 4600 Troops.

The next "division" is that of Sanada Yukitaka, It will be somewhat smaller, it will have a big unit of 1800 shigaru, a smaler unit of ashigaru, one unit of samurai, one unit of teppo armed ashigaru and one with bows., in other words very close to the one under Shingen exept for the cav, As Shingen will have about 600 mounted samurai.

The first unit I'm making is the teppo armed ashigaru, this will be a standard smalish unit of 16 figures or 600 ashigaru, It was nice getting to paint a diffrent banner, tho this banner is also kinda hard to paint, even tho it sounds simple, just 6 black dots on a red banner, but getting the dots to be right is not easy.

This is my forces so far. This would be 4800 soldiers.

More Japanese

So done some more figures, finished my archers, again since these are ashigaru, the armor is simple, just bare metal with some lace.

I still suck free hand so the banners suck, but they kinda work, make it look like tin soldiers kinda.

I've also started work on my Ronin, since these these are lordless samurai, I did two types of armor, more elaborate and expenvice with lots of color, and more cheaply in bare metal and just black lace. Basicly the better of ronin got more expencive armor, and the poorer ones got simple armor.

The more expenvice armor is either black or brown, some got a mix of white and purple lace, others got green and white or blue and white.

Ashigaru

So I finnaly got my Samurai, a bunch of ashigaru, samurai and monks.
I went a little overboard with the color on these, I don't think the ashigaru were that colofull, espesaly the lacing on the armor, so in the second bunch I just did a standard black armor with no lacing. and I think they look better, also the mix of green, blue and red cloth made them look kinda like MMs. The second bunch were painted with a mix of blues, brown and green, and I think they look alot better.

Ofcourse the backbanners look like crap, becasue I can't free han paint if my life depended on it.

This unit is 6 bases or about 900 ashigaru strong.
